AbSciCon will be in Madison in May 2026

AbSciCon 2026 will be held in Madison, Wisconsin in May 2026, and the community is invited to contribute to Session 39: Dynamical Environments of Habitable Worlds, led by Joseph Livesey.

Session Description: Over a hundred exoplanets have been detected that orbit within the classical habitable zone. This definition of habitability accounts only for the equilibrium temperatures of these planets; however, other processes influence planetary surface conditions over time. In this session, we focus on dynamical effects, including those due to migration, tides, and spin–orbit coupling. How a planet evolves in response to its dynamical environment in large part determines its later suitability for life. The aim of this session is to construct a comprehensive portrait of habitable environments in their astrophysical context. We welcome submissions that explore a broad range of dynamical constraints on exoplanet habitability.

Submissions addressing any dynamical constraints relevant to exoplanet habitability are welcome.
Abstract deadline: January 15. Submit abstracts here.
